Genencor Enzyme/ Iogen site

Genecor launched the FERMGEN enzyme on June 19th that will help improve ethanol yields from corn. It helps break down some of the tougher starches to improve yeilds.

Another good company is Iogen out of Ottawa Canada. They are leading the cellulose ethanol research right now and have a test cellulose plant in operation.

Effects of 10% ethanol

Louisiana claims that requiring ethanol to be added to gasoline there would increase gas prices there because of shortage of corn based ethanol. Couldn’t they just produce ethanol from sugarcane like Brazil does on a much larger scale?
