The sight sponsor would be an anti Ethanol industry. (petroleum industry). There are special interest groups in the country and with out a doubt would include your for sale members of congress. These people do not want the competiton. A really cocerned government would have sought a renewable source of fuel/energy since the formation of OPEC. Guess they could care less about the trade deficit. In the mean time we will be held hostage by these foreign suppliers.

If it is simply a transportation problem why not build ethanol plants close to the site of use? But I see a larger problem. If ethanol is so corrosive to metals what will our automobile engine be made of?

Again, this is only propaganda by the oil industry.

We have provided this site as an informative site on ethanol and alternative energy. We make every attempt to provide unbiased relevant information on ethanol in general. The majority of our articles are “pro” ethanol as you can see from our archives.

The article “Ethanol’s Corrosive Little Secret” was viewed as a very informative article. Although it may be viewed as “anti” ethanol, that was not the intention. It was posted to bring about a general awareness of where ethanol currently stands. The intention was also to bring about discussion and possibly action as to how to solve the problem. Hiding the problem is not the answer.

Finding a solution to the problem will be a step towards independence from foreign oil, which, believe it or not, is the position we would like to see become a reality. We are not a “pro” petrol site. Once you view our archives, you will see that we are indeed, “pro” ethanol.

    Thanks,

For the conspiracy theorists, the only secret here is that the “press” doesn’t know basic high school chemistry. When cleaning a beaker in chemistry class, to get out the remaining water and help it dry quickly, swish around a bit of alcohol - ethanol, propanol etc. Yup, it gulps up the water. Dump that and the remaining alcohol evaporates quickly. So with water dissolved in the ethanol, it is in constant contact with the pipe. Remember (did you know) that water in gasoline pools up and can be easily separated. This conversion to ethanol isn’t as easy as many seem to think. Possible, yes. Easy, no. Better leave it to the pros, folks!

The oil industry is not overly concerned or even slightly worried about ethanol.

All the negatives about ethanol are pure chemical and scientific fact.

The corrosive properties, reduced mileage and horsepower, are not concocted by opponents; merely experienced by users.

The main drawback lies in the agricultural and economic feasibility of ethanol production.

The U.S. cannot produce enough corn to maintain an adequate food AND fuel source. No conspiracy here folks; just simple economics.
